Filmmaker Favorites - Coen Brothers

See Clips and Trailers from Coen Influences and Top 10

Welcome back to another edition of Filmmaker Favorites.

In this post, I’m going to share 10 of the films that the Coen brothers have called out over the years, movies they include as favorites, and those that have influenced their work.  You will see a handful of trailers included here, as well as a list of the other titles.

After the last pick, you will get a see the original teaser trailer the Coen Brothers used to raise funds for Blood Simple

See below to find a link to a PDF of the full screenplay for Blood Simple. You can download it if you’re interested.

Alright, so let’s jump in.

The following list is in alphabetical order:

In Double Indemnity an insurance salesman on a routine house call meets the wife of a client, later plotting together the death of her husband to cash out on an accident insurance policy and a double indemnity clause, fabricating it to make it seem like a fortuitous casualty.

We see one of the Coen Brothers’ recurring themes here. How easily people are corrupted by greed, and how this affects marital status. As in Blood Simple, Fargo and other Coen projects.
